Cartography
It is the journey, not the destination that matters. However, it is important to know how to get to your destination, but you no longer need to worry about that. Now, there is a navigation system that can help you find your way, regardless of whether you are trying to remember a half-forgotten route or are going somewhere you have never been before.
Mireo viaGPS 3.1 (Black Edition) is a navigation system that “knows” how to find what you are searching for and how to get there.
We have done everything in our power to ensure that you understand your navigation system right from the start, without worrying that modern technology will make your life harder instead of easier.
It is simple, intuitive and user-friendly due to its features that distinguish it from other navigation systems:
Object-Oriented Navigation System
Object-Oriented Navigation System
The term “object-oriented” means that the Mireo viaGPS 3.1 Black Edition functions as an intelligent geographical map. Our map quickly and smoothly locates objects and points of interest such as streets, addresses, institutions, sport courts, movie theaters, museums, etc.
Simple and Clear Interface
Simple and Clear Interface
We are especially proud of the design and functionality of our user interface. It was built for one purpose only: to enable quick and clear graphical presentation of data on small and/or large device displays.
Other notable improvements to the user interface include high-resolution graphics enhanced by simple transitional animations that help the user understand how to use the interface and graphical presentation of 3D spatial landmarks.
3D Spatial Landmarks
3D Spatial Landmarks
If you zoom in on the map, you will notice the recognizable 3D spatial landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the London Eye or the Roman Arena in Pula. Those landmarks might help in giving you additional information about where you are or where your desired point of interest is in relation to the spatial landmarks.
The graphical presentation of 3D spatial landmarks is usually quite demanding, but we have gone to great lengths to make this feature available to the users of standard devices (64 MB of memory, processor speed: 400 MHz), as well to the users of more powerful devices.
Helpful Animations
Helpful Animations
We have enhanced the user interface by adding animated transitions. They provide an intuitive guide through the user interface menus and help retain clarity even on small displays.
Advanced Graphics
Advanced Graphics
Enlarged graphical presentation of the road geometry for the next maneuver, options for rotating the map, changing the view angles and an on-screen speedometer make the viaGPS 3.1 a very advanced system. Furthermore, you can use photographs and add them as your personal points of interest, thus allowing you to drive to a particular photograph.
Advanced Search System
Advanced Search System
Our search system is intuitive and much faster than those integrated in other navigation systems. It is not necessary to select the country, then the town and then the street. All you need to do is enter what you know about your destination: it could only be a part of the name - even that is enough. You will get a list of all possible results and then you simply pick out the destination you were looking for.
No one expects you to always know the exact name of the destination you are traveling to. One has to admit, if you are traveling to places such as, for example, Örnsköldsvik, Łódź or (uh) Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in Wales, this is more than understandable. This is why our system allows you to find the destination you are looking for even if you enter an incomplete or partially incorrect name.
From our very beginnings, we have been very proud of the excellent results our algorithms, which allow partial data entry, produce. The new edition of our navigation system has further enhanced this advantage, allowing you to search for destinations across all of Europe and the United States. From now on, our users will be able to limit their searches to only one country or, in the case of the USA, to only one state.
Optimal Route Calculation
Optimal Route Calculation
Imagine that you need to deliver some goods to ten different locations. You will want to calculate a route that would use the least amount of time and the lowest amount of fuel. With the newly introduced optimal route calculation function that we like to call the “traveling salesman algorithm”, you will get a detailed driving plan which will save you time and money. If you are interested in this, the Mireo Fleet Management System might interest you as well.
Although it works miracles when it comes to cutting traveling costs, this part of the viaGPS 3.1 is not intended for that purpose alone. Often, during a trip, we have to stop at restaurants, gas stations or rest stops and it is always nice to stop and visit a famous sight, a nature park or a picturesque town a bit off the chosen route. It is very simple to add such locations to the route and the system allows you to add as many locations as you wish; there are no limits.
Sometimes it is more convenient to choose a location available on the map than enter a particular address and add it as a point to the chosen route. The viaGPS 3.1 handles such requests instantly.
In addition, you can select your points of interest and let the system calculate the route and simulate a trip, without you leaving the couch. The simulation is almost like a video game through which the viaGPS 3.1 shows you what your route would be like if you actually took to the road. It would show you where you would need to turn, the direction in which you would be traveling and the expected speed limits in certain sections of the planned route.

The navigation system’s quality depends on the cartographic data used. Because of that, for a number of years, Mireo has been cooperating with the world's leading providers of cartographic data, such as NAVTEQ and Tele Atlas. Complete and accurate data guarantee successful navigation anywhere in the world.
In the Eastern Europe, India, the Middle East and South Africa, we often use the local providers’ cartographic data, in an effort to provide the best cartographic data available for a particular area.
Map of Croatia
Map of Croatia
In creating the first digital road navigation map of Croatia, we drew on our extensive experience acquired through our longtime commitment to developing navigation systems. The cartographic data for Croatia include more than 257,000 road segments in the total length of more than 65,000 km, approximately 100,000 road junctions, 730,000 house numbers, 7,000 settlements and settlement names, 1,373 islands and island names, 3004 major towns with detailed data, 18,000 points of interest such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, parking lots, main railroad network sections and ferry lines.
To ensure the top quality of our map, we continuously add new cartographic data. Some of the new data is gathered from our users, for which we are thankful.
